Police appeal for witnesses after Basildon stabbing

A stabbing in Basildon last night (Saturday 20 October) has left a man in a serious condition.

Emergency services were called to Timberlog Lane, Basildon just after 9.30pm following reports from ambulance staff that a man in his 40s had been stabbed.

The incident, which happened close to the nearby Ladbrokes store, has left the man in hospital in a serious condition and needing surgery.

Several police cars attended the scene with a cordon being set-up by Stacey’s Corner.

Speaking to Essex Live, Detective Sergeant Christopher Arnold stated that an investigation is ongoing:

“The victim had two stab wounds and he has been in surgery today.

“The attack is believed to have been targeted and happened outside Ladbrokes on Timberlog Lane, Basildon.

“The motive is currently unclear and we are carrying out numerous enquiries.

“This happened on a busy road near a popular parade of shops and we think there may be others who saw what happened. It may also be possible that people have dash cam which captured the incident or the moments before or after.

“We believe the victim was attacked by one person.”
