Chelmsford residents visited McDonald’s restaurants in their numbers after four re-opened their drive-thru services today (May 20).
The restaurants were re-opened alongside 35 other restaurants run by the popular fast-food chain in the South East and in Dublin.
Chelmsford residents are lucky enough to have four restaurants across the city that are now open for delivery and drive-thru.
The Regiment Business Park centre has been re-opened to provide Drive-Thru only; the Riverside, Westway and Boreham Interchange offer Drive-Thru and McDelivery services.
In a statement released on Twitter, McDonald’s said: “Our teams are still adjusting to the new procedures we’ve introduced to enable safe working and social distancing, so things might take a little longer.
“We expect a high demand across all locations.
“We are working closely with local authorities and we may determine that it is necessary to close our Drive-Thru lanes if queues cause disruption or put our employees or customers at risk.”

After the announcement at 10am, Chelmsford residents flocked in their numbers to take advantage of the newly re-opened McDonald’s restaurants.
Photos shared on social media showed that huge interest in McDonald’s on their first day of re-opening.
